The adventure begins the moment you board your big red jeep and depart on an exciting jeep eco-tour of the San Andreas Fault.
Travel to a private 840 acre preserve on the San Andreas Fault where you will learn about the desert's plants, animals, history, geology, and earthquakes. Journey through a natural palm oasis, spectacular box and slot canyons, and an ancient fossil bed as your jeep winds its way through the incredible labyrinth of geological cuts and canyons of the San Andreas Fault Zone.
On your journey you will learn about the plants and animals that have uniquely adapted to survive in the desert. Your expert guide will also explain how earthquakes and tectonic forces have created the slanted, vertical and wave-like structures that have been described as the most tortured landscape on earth.
This tour includes a guided nature walk (geared to the abilities of the guests in the jeep), several opportunities to get out of the jeep and see the desert up-close-and personal, and your choice of a variety of interactive features such as a visit to our authentic replica Cahuilla Indian Village and participation in the Palteewet Archeological Dig, Gold Panning at our Old Mining Camp, or a tour of our EPICENTER Earthquake Education Center, which features photos, colorful displays, and interactive demonstrations of the San Andreas Fault, geology, and earthquakes, or a guided tour of our pioneer homestead.

Tour Departure Location:
This adventure departs from the dirt parking lot at the end of Monroe Street in Indio.
Please allow sufficient time to arrive 10 to 15 minute prior to your scheduled tour departure time to check-in.
You should allow at least 45 minutes to drive from downtown Palm Springs, 30 minutes from Rancho Mirage, and 20 minutes from Palm Desert, Indian Wells, or La Quinta.
Directions to the Tour Departure Location:
Take the Interstate 10 (I-10) freeway East.
Exit the freeway at Monroe Street (Exit 142).
Turn LEFT (North) onto Monroe Street.
Go North on Monroe Street approximately 2.2 miles - you will go through one stop sign, past a housing development that is on both sides of the road, across a water canal, and up and over a levee. When you drop down on the back (North) side of the levee, you will see a Granite Construction plant about 1/4 mile ahead of you.
About 1/8 mile before the Granite Construction gate, you will see a dirt road that goes off to the right (look for the yellow sign with red lettering there that reads "Coachella Valley Mounted Rangers" with an arrow pointing East at the beginning of the dirt road - that's where you want to turn right).
Turn right onto that dirt road.
Almost immediately after you turn onto the dirt road, you will see a turn-off on the left that leads to a large dirt parking area. Your jeep and guide will meet you in this parking area.
IMPORTANT: Please park in the designated area only - Do not go more than 1/8 of a mile down the dirt road without an escort as the sand gets very soft and it is easy to get stuck if you don't know where you are going. If you get to the horse corral, you've gone too far, please turn around and go back to the parking area.
